BELMONT, N.C. – The Coker women’s tennis team sweep through the Belmont Abbey women on Sunday afternoon with a 9-0 win in Conference Carolinas women’s tennis. The win improves the Lady Cobras to 3-8 overall and 1-3 in conference play.
The Lady Cobras took home a pair of 8-1 victories at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles, while a forfeit at No. 3 doubles gave Coker the 3-0 sweep in doubles play.
The Coker women then picked up four straight set wins at singles play with Alyssa Blanchard (Columbia, S.C.) winning 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, while Stephanie Medley (Sumter, S.C.) won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2 singles. Kendall Sigmon (Hilton Head, S.C.) won 6-4, 6-0 at No. 3 and Brittany Yando (Sumter, S.C.) won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4. Stephanie Harrelson (Hartsville, S.C.) and Emma Hayes (Hartsville, S.C.) each earned wins at No. 5 and No. 6 singles thanks to forfeits.
Coker will take the courts again on Wednesday, when the Cobras host Pfeiffer University at 2:00 p.m.
