Wilson, NC- The Coker men's and women's tennis teams traveled to North Carolina to take on CVAC rivals St Andrews and hosts Barton College in collegiate tennis on Saturday.

In their first tournament of the year, the Cobra women played superbly and managed a number of individual successes. Playing in the 'A' flight singles, junior Andrea Santos and freshman Cassidy Spencer both won 3 of 4 singles matches.  In the 'B' singles flight, sophomore Jill Smith (4-0) and senior Neely Davis (3-1) were dominant. In the 'C' women's singles flight, junior Jen Konopa went 4-0 in singles for the weekend and senior Leilani Alontaga went 3-1 to show the Cobras dominance in singles play.

In the doubles competition, Smith and Spencer combined to go 2-2 in the women's doubles 'A' flight. Davis and Santos also played good doubles to go 2-2 in the 'A' flight doubles.

Head Men's and Women's tennis coach Alvin Cheng commented: "Our men were up against some tough competition. They performed well overall but we could still use a little more work. I was very impressed with the women, as the results will tell. All of them played well in singles and our doubles pairings worked really well together."
