GAFFNEY, S.C.-- The Lady Saints soccer team recorded their largest margin of victory of the season with a 7-0 win over Coker College on Saturday. Limestone improves to 4-2-3 in Conference Carolinas play (5-7-3) as the Cobras slip to 1-8-1 in the league (4-9-1 overall).


Saturday was Senior Day for Limestone as the Lady Saints recognized Brittany Owen (Pasadena, Md.), Kristina Silva (Pickering, Ontario, Canada), and Ashley Vaughan (Pickering, Ontario, Canada).


Lady Saint Shireen Bradford (Aberdeen, Scotland) scored the first goal of the game in the 4th minute as Lee Cribb (Spartanburg, S.C.) got the assist. With only 30 seconds left in the first half, Julie Koch (Knoxville, Tenn.) chipped the ball back to Savannah Evans (Athens, Ga.) who scored for the 2-0 lead


In the 49th minute, Coker's goalie was caught outside of the goal. Kristina Silva (Pickering, Ontario, Canada) took a shot that deflected off a Cobra defender. Ashley Vaughan (Pickering, Ontario, Canada) got a piece of the ball to give the Lady Saints a 3-0 advantage. Cribb scored for Limestone again minutes later. Alexis Brothers (Charleston, S.C.) converted a penalty kick to put Limestone up 5-0. Annie Polhamus (Fitzgerald, Ga.) scored the sixth goal of the contest. Koch blasted a shot from 25 yards out with six minutes left for the 7-0 victory.


Margaret McCoy (Columbia, S.C.) had eight saves for Coker.


Limestone's defenders allowed only one shot in the Lady Saints' fifth shutout this season. Limestone had a 22-1 advantage on shots and a 9-2 advantage on corners.


Limestone travels to Due West, S.C., on October 17 to face Erskine at 5 p.m.
