Coker Women in 15th After Day One of Myrtle Beach Invite
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Coker women's golf team hit the links on Monday in the opening round of the 2011 Myrtle Beach Invitational hosted by Lenoir-Rhyne. The Cobras finished the day in 15th place out of 21 teams with a combined score of 348 (+60).
Tusculum College is the leader at 207 (+19), followed by Carson Newman College in second at 311 (+23) and Tarleton State and Lincoln Memorial are tied for third at 312 (+24).
Sara Allen (Fort Mill, S.C.) was Coker's leading golfer, she posted a opening round 82 (+10), while Mallory Thompkins (Georgetown, S.C.) shot an 86 (+14). Krista Thorpe (Bracebridge, Ontario) and Caroline Dula (Salisbury, N.C.) each carded 90 (+18) and Jessi McKenzie (McBee, S.C.) shot a 96 (+24).
The Cobra women will be back on the course for the final round of the Myrtle Beach Invitational at the par 72, 5988 yard Sea Trail Golf Links starting Tuesday morning.
