David Hanna has been head softball coach at Coker since 1992 and has the 7th highest winning percentage in the nation among active NCAA Division II coaches. Hanna has compiled a record of 718-265-1 for a winning percentage of .729.
Hanna has led the Cobras to post-season play in 20 of his 21 years at Coker, including appearances in the 1998 NCAA II National Finals and the 1995 NAIA National Tournament.
Under Hanna’s leadership the Cobras have won the Conference Carolinas (formerly Carolinas-Virginia Athletic Conference) title 14 times, including winning four consecutive titles from 1996-99. They have also advanced to the NCAA regionals 10 times and have played in two NCAA National Championship Tournaments.
Hanna has been named Conference Coach of the Year six times during his tenure and he was named NAIA District 26 Coach-of-the-Year in 1993 and 1994.
As a player, Hanna played on an American Softball Association slow pitch national championship team and their team photo is on display at the National Softball Hall of Fame in Petersburg, Va.
