Hartsville, S.C. – The Coker Softball team stayed perfect in Conference Carolinas play with a pair of wins over the Falcons of Pfeiffer University. The Lady Cobras won both games by scores of 6-1. The wins improve Coker to a perfect 6-0 in the conference, and 19-9 overall, while the Falcons fall to 4-4 in the conference, and 15-15 overall.

Game One
The Lady Cobras scored all six of their runs in the third inning, with three coming in off a double from Anna Lucas (McBee, SC) and the other three coming from RBI singles from Kimberly Atkinson (McBee, SC) and Eunice Nettles (Pelion, SC) and a fielder’s choice from Miranda Klees (Murrells Inlet, SC).

Pfeiffer managed their only run of the game in the sixth, thanks to an RBI single from Shelby Fleming.

Shelly Catlett (Orangeburg, SC) (10-5) picked up the win on the mound, allowing just three hits and no runs with four strike outs in four innings of work.

Dacia Ijames took the loss, allowing six runs on eight hits in six innings of work.

At the plate for Coker, Jessica Blackwell (Hartsville, SC) and Whitney Wallett (Shermans Dale, PA) were each 2-for-3 with a run scored, while Lucas, Nettles and Atkinson were each 1-for-3.

For the Falcons, Ijames was 2-for-3 and Fleming was 1-for-3 with an RBI, while Hannah Clark and Martina Bullard were each 1-for-3.

Game Two
Game two may as well have been a carbon copy of game one, with Coker scoring all six runs in the third inning and Pfeiffer scoring their one run in sixth inning.

Catlett (11-5) earned her second win of the day, going seven innings, allowing one run on seven hits with seven strike outs.

Allison Braswell took the loss, allowing six runs on six hits in five innings on the hill for Pfeiffer.

Blackwell was 2-for-3 again, this time adding an RBI and a run scored, while Nettles was 1-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored and Atkinson was 1-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored.

Ijames was 1-for-3 with an RBI and Clark, Fleming, Stephanie Brandt, Sarah Moore and Bullard were all 1-for-3.

The Lady Cobras return to action on Wednesday, as they host Glenville State in a non-conference doubleheader starting at 2:00 p.m.
