Hartsville, SC- Coker College Head Softball Coach, David Hanna, announced the signing of four players to National Letters of Intent to play softball for the Cobras in 2007-2008 during the early signing period. The Cobras will be joined by Leah Little of Crossville, AL, Haleigh Rogers of Batesburg, SC, Alexandra Rogers of Latta, SC, and Amber Hoffman of Verona, VA.
Little is a standout softball and volleyball player at Crossville High School, where she has earned numerous awards in both sports. She was two-time All-County Team selection in softball as well as being named Team MVP in 2006. In volleyball she is a three-time All-Area Tournament Team selection and a two-time Hustle Award winner. Leah is also been a member of the Crossville High varsity basketball and cheerleader teams, as well as being named Academic All-State in 2006 for both basketball and softball with a 3.87 grade point average.
Haleigh Rogers is a senior at W. Wayman King Academy where she has been a member of the softball team, volleyball team and cheerleader team. In softball, she is a three-time SCISA All-Star Team selection, a four-time First Team All-Region selection, two-time SCISA All-State selection, two-time All-Area Team selection, was named the 2004 SCISA IA Player of the Year, was a member of the 2004 SCISA IA State Championship softball and volleyball teams and was named the 2006 Region VI-2A Co-MVP. Rogers is also member of the National Honor Society, the Beta Club and is a Palmetto Girls State Delegate.
When asked about attending Coker Haleigh said, “I am looking forward to attending Coker College and becoming a Cobra. The softball program has set a high mark and I am excited about becoming a part of Coach Hanna’s program.”
Alexandra Rogers is a senior at Latta High School where she is a member of both the softball and volleyball teams. Rogers is a two-time All-Region performer in softball, as well as being named to the South Carolina High School Sports Report All-State Team in 2005 and 2006. Is 2006 she batted .468 with 39 hits, 34 runs, 12 RBIs, six doubles and 26 stolen bases. Off the field, Rogers is a two-time Academic All-State selection, a member of the National Honor Society and a Coker Scholar.
According to Alexandra, “I am extremely excited about furthering my education at Coker College and having the opportunity to contribute to the Coker Softball Team.”
Amber Hoffman, will join the Cobras from Fort Defiance High School where she is a standout member of the softball team. Hoffman is a two-time selection for the All-District First Team, as well as a being a two-time Second Team All-Region selection. Amber pitches and plays both second base abs short stop. She has been named to the High Honors and the Honors list at Fort Defiance, as well as receiving Academic Letters every year during her four years.
Amber says, “I am excited to have the opportunity to further my education and play for a successful softball program at Coker College.”
The Cobra Softball team begins the 2007 season on February 2 at the Claflin University Softball Tournament.
