Coker Jumps to No. 6 in NCAA Southeast Region
HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker College men's tennis team moved up one spot in the latest regional rankings by the NCAA. The Cobras come in at No. 6 in the Southeast region this week after debuting for the first-time ever at No. 7 a week ago.
Coker finished the regular season with a 16-4 overall record and a perfect 10-0 showing in Conference Carolinas play. The Cobras won the regular-season conference title and head into the postseason tournament as the No. 1 seed. They play Barton College in the quarterfinals at 9 a.m. Friday. The tournament is held at the Palmetto Tennis Center in Sumter, S.C.
The men's tennis team is led by freshman Andre Staab, who has a 15-5 singles record and is ranked No. 12 by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association in the Southeast for Division II. Junior James Corfield (16-3), and freshmen William Marrafao (14-5), Martin Moncayo (14-4) and Tom Sizeland (14-5) have played large roles for the squad this season.
