Preseason Conference Poll Slots Men's Tennis Fifth
HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker College men's tennis team has been picked fifth in the Conference Carolinas preseason poll, the league office announced today.
The Cobras finished 6-4 in conference play in 2012. They fell to Limestone College in the semifinals of the postseason tournament.
Junior James Corfield returns to lead this year's squad. He compiled a conference record of 7-3 in singles play and finished the season with a 14-8 mark in doubles action.
Defending conference champion Mount Olive College took first place in the poll with 96 points and six first-place votes. Limestone College was right behind with 92 points and five first-place votes.
The entire preseason poll is as follows: 1. Mount Olive College; 2. Limestone College; 3. Queens University of Charlotte; 4. King College; 5. Coker College; 6. Barton College; 7. Lees-McRae College; 8. Erskine College; 9. Pfeiffer University; 10. North Greenville University; 11. Belmont Abbey College.
Conference Carolinas is a NCAA Division II athletic conference made up of 12 teams from North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. These institutions are Barton College, Belmont Abbey College, Coker College, Converse College, Erskine College, King College, Lees-McRae College, Limestone College, Mount Olive College, North Greenville University, Pfeiffer University and Queens University of Charlotte.
