Wilson, NC- The Coker men's and women's tennis teams traveled to North Carolina to take on CVAC rivals St Andrews and hosts Barton College in collegiate tennis on Saturday.

In the Men's competition, the Cobras were up against some strong opposition in the form of nationally ranked Barton College, St Andrews and Division III SAC champions Methodist College. Their best successes came in doubles where senior Matt Byford and junior Duncan Grew won the 'A' flight Men's doubles defeating the number one pairings from St Andrews 8-3, Methodist 9-8 and Barton College 8-4 in the final.

In singles play, sophomore Tyson Thompson  performed well in the 'C' flight going 2-2 in singles play.

Head Men's and Women's tennis coach Alvin Cheng commented: "Our men were up against some tough competition. They performed well overall but we could still use a little more work. I was very impressed with the women, as the results will tell. All of them played well in singles and our doubles pairings worked really well together."
