BANNER ELK, N.C. - Noah Lascell scored the game-winning goal in the 88th minute as the fifth seeded Coker College Cobras upset the number one seeded Lees-McRae College Bobcats 1-0 Friday night at Tate Field in the Semifinal Round of the Conference Carolinas Men's Soccer Tournament. With the win, Coker advances to the Conference Carolinas Championship match for the first time in Coker history.

With the loss, the Bobcats slip to 15-2-1 overall and ending their bid at third consecutive Conference Carolinas Tournament Championship. The Cobras improve to 12-5-2 overall and will host the championship match Sunday at 1 p.m. against sixth seed Belmont Abbey.

Lascell's (Myrtle Beach, S.C.) goal came when a Lees-McRae clear that was chested down by Rommel Fondin (Palm Bay, Fla.) to Lascell in Lees-McRae's half. Lascell drove the ball through the defense and placed the shot in far post for the goal.

Lees-McRae won the shot count 19-11 including 8-7 in the first half and 11-4 in the second, but Coker had six shots on goal compared to Lees-McRae's three.

Sean Paradise made five saves in the match including two brilliant saves in the 43rd minute when he saved an Eric Stiefield (Eustis, Fla.) shot, then saved Enrique Barrientos’ (Plano, Texas) rebound attempt to keep the matched tied before half. He made four first half saves and one in the second.

James Sweeney (Huntingtown, Md.) made two saves, and had help from Marc Mergena (Port-au-Prince, Haiti) on the near post in the 81st minute on a David Palmer shot to secure the shutout.
