AIKEN, SC – Senior forward Kofi Akyere had a team-high three shots, two of which where on goal, in the Pacers 3-1 victory of Coker College on Wednesday October 29 at the Pacer Pit. USCA improves to 5-8 while the Cobras drop to 7-11.

The Cardinal and Navy came out strong, scoring in the seventh minute to get on the board and never looked back. Sophomore midfielder Troy Watson touched the ball off a deflection that made it into the back of the net passing Coker’s goalie, Ryan Lewis.

Later in the period, senior forward Durell Johnson hit the ball into the net off a corner kick by junior midfielder Corey Adamson for the second goal of the game.

After halftime, the Pacers played defense well trying to keep their lead when they extended it to three in the 65th minute of the game. Akyere took a shot from Johnson that made it passed Coker’s Lewis and into the net.

The Cobra’s tried to make a comeback when Don Jackson was able to kick the ball passed the Pacers goalie junior Andray Charles to stop from being shutout.

USCA had 12 shots on the day, seven on goal, while Coker totaled 10 shots, only three on goal. The Cobra’s were called for 10 fouls whereas the Cardinal and Navy only had seven.

The Pacers will return to the field when they recognize their six seniors and take on UNC Pembroke on Saturday November 1 at 7:00 p.m. in the Pacer Pit. Coker must now wait to see if their season will continue, based on the outcomes of this weekend's Conference Carolinas matches. Currently, Coker holds the last spot in the conference championship bracket, but pair of Mount Olive wins could knock them from the playoffs.
