HARTSVILLE, SC – Coker College fired a second round 293 to grab the overall lead Monday at the CVAC Men’s Golf Championships at the Hartsville Country Club.  On the women’s side, Pfeiffer shot another 324 round to increase its lead to 12 strokes over Limestone, who shot a 332 today. 

The Cobras raced by Queens University of Charlotte in the second round, and the Royals are now in second place, tied with Pfeiffer University.  CC has a two-day total of 594 with Queens and Pfeiffer trailing at 601.  Barton College is in fourth at 604 and Mt. Olive is in fifth with a score of 620.

Pfeiffer’s consistent play on the women’s side kept them in the lead as Limestone slipped a little on the second day.  The Falcon’s 648 score leads Limestone (660), Anderson (662), St. Andrews (716), and Queens (723).

Louis-Pierre Godin of Coker remains in first place in the men’s tournament with a two-under par 142.  Ian Kenwright of Pfeiffer is two shots back and Jon Wetton of Barton slipped to third place (145).  Rounding out the top five are Pfeiffer’s Jordan Stelmach and Dion Sirrianni of Lees-McRae, who are tied in fourth place with a score of 147.

A four-way tie after day one broke in the second round with Fiona Hindshaw remaining atop the leaderboard after a tournament-low round of 74.  She is five strokes ahead of Holly Tompkins of Limestone (156) and Heather Pothier of St. Andrews is third with a 158.  Limestone’s Katie Clayton is tied for fifth place with Andrea Johnston of St. Andrews with a score of 160.  

The final round will be completed tomorrow, April 19, in Hartsville.
