Coker Men Picked 7th in Conference Carolinas Men's Basketball Preseason Poll
HIGH POINT, N.C. – The Coker College men's basketball team has been picked for the No. 7 spot in the Conference Carolinas Men's Basketball Preseason Coaches' Poll released on Wednesday. The poll, voted on by the conference coaches, has defending tournament champions Limestone College in first, Queens University of Charlotte in the No. 2 spot and Barton College at No. 3.
Leading the Cobras will head coach Dan Schmotzer, as he begins his 25th year at the helm of the Coker men. This season's team features seven new faces, including a pair of Australia transfers; sophomore Bryce Arnott (Alaska Anchorage) and junior Andrew Morris (New Mexico JC). With just two seniors, this young group of players is hungry for a conference championship after last year's loss to Limestone in the tournament championship game.
The Cobras have a tough season ahead with a pair of tournaments to start the season; UNC Pembroke Holiday Classic- Nov. 11-12 and the Zaxby's Tip-off Clazzic- Nov. 18-19. Between those tournaments Coker will take on their lone Division I opponent of the season, East Carolina University, on Nov. 17 at 7:30 p.m. in Greenville, N.C. The first home game for the Cobras will be on Monday, Nov. 21 at 7:00 p.m. against the University of Virginia-Lynchburg.
