ANDERSON, S.C. – The Coker baseball team dropped the first two games of their three-game weekend series with Anderson University on Saturday afternoon. The Cobras lost game one 11-6 and then lost game two 13-3.
Freshman Andrew Goot (Oldsmar, Fla.) took the loss in game one going five innings, allowing seven runs on seven hits with four strikeouts.
The Cobras trailed 11-1 heading into the seventh and final inning, where they plated five runs to make it an 11-6 ballgame.
Nick Fuoco (Palm Bay, Fla.) and Fico Kondla (Miami, Fla.) each had a pair of hits for the Cobras, while Matt Ammons (Chester, S.C.) had a home run with an RBI and Tyler Witzel (Melbourne, Fla.) had a double with an RBI.
In game two, Sean Tracy (Farmingville, N.Y.) was handed the loss after allowing 10 runs on 10 hits in three innings on the mound.
At the plate Ammons continued his hot hitting, going 3-for-3 with a triple and an RBI, Witzel also had another solid game at the plate going 2-for-2 with an RBI.
The Cobras will complete their three-game series with a single game on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
