Hartsville, S.C. – The Coker Cobras and the Erskine Flying Fleet completed their three game Conference Carolinas baseball series on Monday, with Erskine taking home the game three victory, 7-2, sweeping the series. The win keeps the Flying Fleet perfect at 15-0 overall, and 6-0 in conference, while Coker falls to 6-10 overall, and 1-5 in conference.
The Cobras were the first to strike, scoring two runs in the second inning, but that would be all the offense Coker would manage, as Mike Moore held the Cobras scoreless, while the Fleet offense poured on seven runs over the next seven innings.
Chris Thomas (Bluffton, SC) (1-2) took the loss for Coker, allowing seven runs on 10 hits in 6.1 innings on the mound.
Moore (4-0) earned the win throwing an eight inning gem, allowing just two runs on five hits with nine strike outs.
Leading the Cobras at the plate was Scott Amann (New Athens, IL) going 2-for-4 with a triple, while Kyle Walker (Centralia, IL), Preston Ford (Cheraw, SC) and Karl Ankersen (Mt. Pleasant, SC) were each 1-for-4.
For the Flying Fleet, Keith Hill was 2-for-5 with a home run, an RBI and two runs scored, while Bryan Fogle was also 2-for-5 with an RBI. Matt Schneider, John Bolding, Ross Hanna and Tyler Layton each collected a hit and an RBI in the game.
The Cobras return to the diamond on Tuesday, as they host the Jaguars of Augusta State. First pitch is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
