Florence, SC- Justin Yow and Ryan Kirkman threw a combined no-hitter, as the UNC-Pembroke Braves defeated the Coker Cobras 1-0 in collegiate baseball on Friday afternoon. The Braves one run came off the bat of Ryan Gatham, as he belted a home run over the right field fence in the sixth inning. The loss drops Coker to 2-4 overall, while Pembroke improves to 5-0 on the year.

Coker’s Brad Boob (1-2) threw a superb game, but was unable to get any support in the loss. Boob allowed just one run on six hits with five strike outs in eight innings of work.

Yow (1-0) earned the win going eight strong innings, allowing no hits with 12 strike outs and Kirkman (2) picked up his second save of the season.

Gatham was the Braves offensive leader going 1-for-4 with a home run, an RBI and a run scored.

Coker returns to action in the Swamp Fox Classic on Saturday, as they host Brevard College at noon, while UNC-Pembroke will face Anderson University at Francis Marion at noon.
