Hartsville, SC- Coker split their Carolinas-Virginia athletics Conference baseball double-header with the No. 22 ranked Mount Olive Trojans on Saturday afternoon. Mount Olive wont eh first game 8-0, but Coker bounced back and won game two 7-2. After the day Coker is now 8-17 on the year, and 3-5 in the CVAC, while the Trojans are 18-8 overall, and 6-2 in the CVAC.

 

In game one, Judson Smith earned the win shutting down the Cobras through eight innings, allowing just four hits, with four strike outs.

 

Coker’s Brad Boob (0-5) took the loss, going 4 2/3 innings, allowing seven runs on nine hits.

 

Dustin Richardson led the Trojans hits, going 2-for-4 with a home run three RBIs and a run scored, while Scott Houin was 2-for-5 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored. Stephen Nordan was 1-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored.

 

For Coker, Ryan Schaeffer, Julio Gomez, Seth Weinberg and Eric Losten each had hits.

 

In game two, Matt Conyers (2-2) earned the win on the mound for the Cobras, going the full seven innings, allowing just two runs on three hits with five strike outs.

 

The Trojans Tom Layne took the loss, allowing five runs on eight hits in five innings of work.

 

Leading the Coker hitters was Trey Lynch, going 1-for-3 with a triple, two RBIs and two runs scored, while Schaeffer was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored. Losten finished a perfect 2-for-2 with an RBI and Steven Evans was 2-for-3 with a run scored.

 

Coker and Mount Olive will complete their three game series Sunday, at 1:00 p.m. at Tom J. New Field.
