Fort Myers, FL- On Tuesday, the Coker Baseball Team got their first victory at the Gene Cusic Baseball Classic, defeating Kentucky Wesleyan 7-0. The win moves the Cobras to 6-16 on the year and 1-3 at the baseball classic.


Leading the Cobras to victory were pitchers Seth Weinberg (2-2), Mikael Owens and Chris Thomas, as they combined for the shutout. Weinberg earning the win, going seven innings with seven strike outs, while Owens and Thomas combined for two innings of work with three strike outs.


Leading the Coker hitters was Ryan Schaeffer, going 2-for-4 with a triple, three RBIs, two runs scored and a stolen base, while Michael Shuford was 3-fro-5 with two RBIs, a run scored and two stolen bases. Eric Losten finished the day 3-for-4 with an RBI and a stolen base.


Coker will complete their spring break trip tomorrow as they face Stonehill College at 9:00 a.m. The Cobras will then return home to host the Mount Olive College Trojans for a CVAC weekend series starting Saturday at noon.
