Mount Olive, NC- Mount Olive capped off their winning weekend with an 8-3 victory over Coker on Sunday to sweep the Cobras first Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference series of the season.


Coker lost the first two games of the series on Saturday, 6-5 in 11 innings and 10-2. Coker drops to 6-6-1 overall, and 0-3 in the CVAC, while Mount Olive improved to 12-3 overall, and 4-2 in the CVAC.


In game one Coker’s Steven Dill (2-1) took the loss after relieving starter Brad Boob in the tenth, while the offense was lead by Nic Fletcher who was 1-for-5 with a double and three RBIs and Ben Davidson who was 1-for-4 with a home run.


In game two Jayson Clarke (2-2) took the loss for the Cobras and Mike Pitkewicz lead the offense, going 2-for-3.


Game three saw Coker’s Jesse Hatchell (0-1) take the loss as Mount Olive completed their three game sweep by scoring five runs in the sixth inning to defeat Coker 8-3.


The Cobras next game will be on Tuesday, as they travel to St. Augustine College in Raleigh, NC at 2:30 p.m.
