Dr. Katie Flaherty joined the Coker staff in 2005. She serves as Coker Assistant Director of Athletics in charge of NCAA Compliance, as well as the College’s accreditation liaison officer with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges.

She is a member of the NCAA Division II Committee for Legislative Relief, overseeing requests by a school that, in cases when no other waiver process already has authority, seeks relief from applying a rule when extraordinary or extenuating circumstances warrant. The Committee’s decisions include granting or denying such requests, or granting conditional wavers. It handles appeals for all 302 Division II institutions.

Flaherty earned a Bachelor of Science from Michigan State University and she has a Ph.D. from Purdue University.

Katie, along with her husband Joe, live in Hartsville with their two children Patrick and Audrey.
