Cobra Club BINGO Night – Thursday, April 11

Calling all BINGO enthusiasts! The Coker College Cobra Club will be hosting a BINGO Night on Thursday, April 11, 2013. BINGO Night will be a fundraiser for the Cobra Club with all proceeds benefiting Coker’s athletic teams.

Admission is free and cards start at $1 with tons of prizes for everyone. BINGO Night will be held in Coker’s Timberlake-Lawton Gymnasium. Doors will open at 6 p.m.

Men’s Volleyball

  • Last week’s matches:
    • Belmont Abbey (L) 3-0
  • The men’s volleyball team season came to end with a 3-0 loss to Belmont Abbey last week. The Cobras concluded their inaugural season of competition with a record of 6-15 overall and 4-12 in conference play.

Baseball

  • This week’s games:
    • Monday at 6:00 p.m. (A) – Newberry
    • Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. (A) – St. Augustine’s
    • Friday at 3:00 p.m. (H) – Belmont Abbey
    • Saturday at 12:00 p.m. (H) – Belmont Abbey (DH)
  • Last week’s games:
    • #11 UNC Pembroke – (W) 8-4
  • The baseball team extended its winning streak to five games with an 8-4 win over No. 11 UNC Pembroke last week. This week the regionally ranked No. 10 Cobras will hit the road for a pair of non-conference games against Newberry (Monday) and St. Augustine’s (Tuesday). They will then return home for their final home games of the season against Belmont Abbey (Friday & Saturday). 

Softball

  • This week’s games:
    • Saturday at 1:00 p.m. (A) – Erskine (DH)
    • Sunday at 12:00 p.m. (H) – Carson-Newman (DH)
  • Last week’s games:
    • Lees-McRae – (W) 9-1 – 6 innings, (W) 4-2
    • King – (L) 5-0, (L) 7-2
  • The Cobras moved to fifth place in the Conference Carolinas standings with a pair of wins against Lees-McRae. This week they will play their final four regular season games of the season, including their final home games of the year against Carson-Newman (Sunday). 

Men’s and Women’s Tennis

  • This week’s matches:
    • Thursday at 3:00 p.m. (H) – Mount Olive
    • Saturday at 2:00 p.m. (H) – Wingate
  • Last week’s matches:
    • Shaw – (L) 7-0 – women, (W) 6-0 – men
    • Erskine – (L) 9-0 – women, (W) 7-2 – men
    • Belmont Abbey – (W) 5-4 – women, (W) 9-0 – men  
  • The Coker men extended its conference winning streak to nine matches last week and earned the program’s first ever NCAA regional ranking. The Cobras are No. 7 in the Southeast region. Last week the women earned a spot in the Conference Carolinas postseason thanks to their 5-4 win over Belmont Abbey. This week the Cobras will play host to Mount Olive (Thursday) and Wingate (Saturday) in their final two matches of the regular season.

Men’s Lacrosse

  • This week’s games:
    • Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. (H) – Young Harris
    • Saturday at 2:00 p.m. (H) – Lees-McRae
  • Last week’s games:
    • Lenoir-Rhyne (W) – 12-9
  • The men’s lacrosse team picked up a 12-9 victory over Lenoir-Rhyne last week. Keith LaClair and Steven Zolezzi each scored four goals to lead the Cobras. This week the Cobras will play their final two games of the seasons, both at home. They will host Young Harris on Wednesday and Lees-McRae on Saturday.

Men’s & Women’s Golf

  • This week’s tournaments:
    • Mount Olive Spring Invitational – April 8-9 at Walnut Grove Country Club
  • Last week’s tournaments:
    • None
  • This week both the men’s and women’s golf teams travel to Mount Olive, N.C. to take part in the Mount Olive Spring Invitational at Walnut Grove Country Club. This will be the final tune-up for the Cobras before they play in the Conference Carolinas Tournament.
