Vic Finora Named Cross Country Coach
HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Coker College athletic director Lynn Griffin announced today that Vic Finora has been promoted to head men’s and women’s cross country coach.
Finora has been an assistant coach for the women’s basketball team the past two years. The team went 11-16 overall with an 11-6 mark in conference play last season. He will continue his duties to the women’s team.
“I am very excited and grateful for this opportunity,” said Finora. “We have a talented group that has made great strides, and I am confident we will continue to build on our recent success. I look forward to seeing what our men and women can do.”
“Vic has made tremendous contributions as an assistant coach, and we believe his talents and competitive drive will transition well as a head coach,” said Griffin. “I have no doubt he will be successful in leading our cross country program.”
Finora replaces Kevin Kelley, who resigned. Kelley served as head coach since 2010, during which period both the men’s and women’s teams saw important growth. Both teams finished in the top 10 in the Conference Carolinas championships in 2010 and at the Furman Invite this past season. In addition, last year Brandon Cain was an all-conference selection and set the Coker record in an 8K race, Dylan Bates was named to the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic team and the women’s team was named a USTFCCCA All-Academic team.
