Rumbaugh Lifts Coker to Thrilling 3OT Win

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Junior midfielder Britt Rumbaugh scored with 40 seconds remaining in the third overtime to give the Coker men's lacrosse team a thrilling 11-10 victory over visiting Barton at the Coker Athletic Field on Friday evening.
The game winner was Rumbaugh's lone goal of the game, while freshman attacker Jacob Cicco netted his first three collegiate goals and senior midfielder Zyaire Marshall and senior attacker Ryan Forehand each added two goals for the Cobras.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Zyaire Marshall opened the scoring for Coker with a goal at the 12:52 mark of the first quarter to give the Cobras an early 1–0 lead. Coker later built a 3–1 advantage following goals from Elijah Utz and Gavin Bourne, but Barton answered with two scores to even the game by the end of the opening quarter.
Barton struck first in the second quarter, scoring twice to take a 5–3 lead before Ryan Forehand converted a man-up opportunity to cut the deficit to 5–4 at halftime.
Marshall's second goal of the game less than a minute into the third quarter tied the contest at 5–5. After a Barton goal, Jacob Cicco responded with back-to-back scores to put Coker back in front, but Barton found the equalizer as time expired in the third to make it 7–7.
Cicco completed his hat trick with a goal at the 12:32 mark of the fourth quarter to give the Cobras an 8–7 lead. Barton answered with a pair of goals to regain the advantage before Jackson Duke knotted the score at 9–9 with 7:43 remaining. Forehand scored again with 2:27 left to put Coker ahead, but Barton forced overtime with a goal with 41 seconds remaining in regulation.
The first two overtime periods were scoreless before Britt Rumbaugh delivered the game-winner with 40 seconds remaining in the third overtime to lift the Cobras to the victory.
