Tillman Reaches Milestone as Coker Gets Past Mars Hill

MARS HILL, N.C. - The ninth-ranked Coker women's basketball team upended Mars Hill, 76-56, on Saturday afternoon inside Chambers Gymnasium. 

Senior guard Shawnteanna Tillman became the 12th player in program history to reach the 1,000 career point milestone with her 12th point of the game which came in the third quarter. She finished the game with 13 points.

#9 Coker 8-1 (4-0 SAC) | Mars Hill 4-6 (1-3 SAC)

• Coker's 8-1 start to the season matches last season as the best start to a season in program history. 

• All 11 Coker players that played scored at least two points. 

• Shawnteanna Tillman's 13 points moved her career total to 1,001 and currently sits 12th on the career scoring list at Coker.   

• Kamari Thompson's 16 rebounds moved her career total to 777, five boards away from moving up to fourth-place on Coker's career list.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Coker opened the game by scoring the first nine points of the game and led 19-8 at the end of the quarter. 

The Cobras built the lead back to double digits at 26-16 and again at 32-22, before Mars Hill closed the second quarter on a 8-2 run to trail by four at the break. 

In the third quarter, Coker used a 10-1 run to build a 50-37 advantage and ended the quarter with a 50-39 lead.
