Baseball Drops Conference Series on the Road
Coker splits day 2.
Harrogate, TN. – Coker took on LMU in a doubleheader Saturday afternoon in a South Atlantic Conference series. The Cobras dropped the first game of the series but looked to bounce back on Saturday.
Game 1 W (6-5)-
Coker was off to a slow start as Lincoln Memorial was on the attack first going up 1-0 at the bottom of the 2nd. At the top of the 7th, the Cobras did some damage as Adam Wilkerson singled through a gap on the right side scoring Zack Wall. In the same inning, Caleb McCants had a sacrifice fly in the same inning scoring Jaylen Mack and adding another run to the Cobras' score of 2-5. In the 8th Wall singled into the outfield scoring Donavan Frayer. Wilkerson singled yet again scoring Wall and putting Coker within a run of LMU 4-5. McCants had a sacrifice bunt scoring Mack and tying the game up at 5-5. Cameron Ferrell came up big for Coker as he singled into left field and scored Wilkerson giving the Cobras their first lead of the game. Garrett Dunn collected a win after pitching four innings and collecting three strikeouts.
Game 2 L (3-0)-
Game 2 was pretty quiet throughout the game. Both teams went scoreless through five innings with the game turning into a pitcher's duel. Aaron Diaz threw 5.1 innings and looked strong early. The Cobras gave up 3 runs at the bottom of the 6th giving LMU the lead. Coker ended up dropping the second game of the day collecting three hits in the seven-inning game.
