Coker Women’s Track & Field Wraps Up SAC Outdoor Championships with Podium Finish in Javelin

EMORY, Va.- The Coker University women's track & field team wrapped up competition at the South Atlantic Conference Outdoor Championships at Emory & Henry University with a strong two-day showing, highlighted by a podium finish and multiple scoring performances.
DAY ONE: Strong Start on the Track and in the Field
Coker opened the meet with momentum, led by Sydney Watson, who qualified for the finals in both sprint events. Watson posted a time of 11.93 seconds in the 100-meter prelims and followed with a 24.92-second performance in the 200-meter prelims to advance in both events.
In the field, the Cobras saw a pair of top-10 finishes in the long jump. Tamara Steward recorded a mark of 5.27 meters to place ninth, while Massassi Maxwell-Smith followed closely behind in 10th with a jump of 5.24 meters.
DAY TWO: Luzzi Leads Cobras with Podium Finish
The Cobras closed out the championships with their top performance of the meet, as Anna Luzzi delivered a standout showing in the javelin throw. Luzzi recorded a mark of 33.49 meters (109-10) to secure a third-place finish, earning six points and a spot on the podium.
On the track, Watson returned for the finals and added to Coker's point total. She placed sixth in the 100 meters with a time of 12.27 seconds, earning three points, before finishing seventh in the 200 meters in 25.39 seconds to add two more.
Coker also competed in both relay events, turning in solid performances. The Cobras finished seventh in the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 48.30 seconds, and followed with a sixth-place finish in the 4x400-meter relay in 3:58.30 to close out the meet.
In the field, Josie Carter added another point for the Cobras with an eighth-place finish in the high jump, clearing 1.48 meters.
