LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Coker University women's track & field team opened the 2025 indoor season with a productive performance at the Liberty Kickoff, collecting several personal bests across sprints, mid-distance, and field events.
Amelia Artz led the Cobras with standout efforts in both the mile and the 800 meters, finishing as Coker's top performer on the women's side in both events.
Coker also collected competitive marks in the sprints:
-
Women's 60m: Sydney Watson
-
Women's 400m: Jimena Sierra andPatience Lisbon
The women's 4x400m relay finished 8th overall.
Freshman thrower Anna Luzzi impressed in her collegiate debut with a PR in the weight throw, posting a mark of 7.31m.
"First meets with a young team are always challenging but, they did really well despite having a two our delay on Friday. Amelia breaking two school records right off the bat is a positive step for future meets. With several lifetime best, I was extremely happy with our Freshman class as they had an outstanding meet that should rank them high in the South Atlantic Conference standings. As we head into winter break now is a critical time to recover and train." – Head Coach Eugene Galloway
The women's team continues indoor action January 10th at Tyron International
