Hernandez-Sanchez named SAC Player of the Week
Hernandez-Sanchez had a great week on court, going 2-0 in both singles and doubles at the 1st position.
Rock Hill, S.C.: Ilona Hernandez-Sanchez was announced by the South Atlantic Conference this morning as the Women's Tennis Player of the Week.
Hernandez-Sanchez, a sophomore out of Zoetermeer, Netherlands, went 4-0 on the week, playing in the 1st doubles and 1st singles position.
Ilona Hernandez-Sanchez and Noelle D'Angelillo bested Augusta in Doubles, only giving up 2 games in total on the week, winning 6-1 against Augusta and 8-1 against USC Sumter.
In Singles play, Hernandez-Sanchez moved to 4-2 on the season following a 6-3, 6-1 win at Augusta and a 6-2, 6-1 win against USC Sumter.
Hernandez-Sanchez is the second Cobra to be given this honor, joining fellow teammate Salomé Sierra, who won it in week 1.
Hernandez-Sanchez and her teammates will be on the road this Wednesday to start conference play against Wingate University in a midweek matchup. They will then welcome UVA-Wise to the Coker Tennis Courts for their home conference opener this Saturday.
