Coker University has named Megan Hall as its head women’s basketball coach, Dr. Lynn Griffin, vice president of athletics and facilities, announced today.

“We are thrilled to welcome Megan Hall to the Coker family,” said Griffin. “Her extensive experience, commitment to student-athlete development, and proven success in building elite defensive teams make her the perfect leader for our women’s basketball program. Megan brings a championship mindset and a passion for excellence that will elevate our program on and off the court.”

Hall arrives at Coker following a 21-year stint on the women’s basketball staff at Campbell University, where she served as recruiting coordinator and worked closely with the program’s post players. She was elevated to associate head coach prior to the 2023-24 season.

“I am incredibly honored and excited to join Coker University and lead this program,” said Hall. “I want to thank Dr. Griffin, Dr. Harder and the rest of the administration for this opportunity. Coker has a strong foundation, and I’m eager to build on the success this program has had over the past few years.

“The return of such an elite core of the team speaks volumes in how the university and athletic department operate. The culture of Coker, in both athletics and academia, is to cultivate community to support growth, belonging, and leadership. These are principles that have been the foundation of my coaching philosophy through relationship building and prioritizing individual development.”

During her tenure, Hall helped transform Campbell into one of the nation’s premier defensive programs, consistently ranking among national leaders in multiple defensive categories.

The Camels led the nation in scoring defense in 2016-17, allowing just 49.6 points per game, and are the only program in the country to rank in the top 25 in scoring defense in nine of the past 10 seasons. Campbell also finished in the top 30 nationally in field goal percentage defense seven times and three-point field goal percentage defense six times during that span.

Over the last decade, the Camels held 43 opponents to 40 points or fewer and 118 opponents to 50 points or fewer, underscoring the program’s defensive consistency.

Hall also played a key role in Campbell’s transition to the Coastal Athletic Association in 2023-24, as the Camels maintained a top-10 national ranking in scoring defense while continuing to excel in discipline and efficiency metrics.

Throughout her tenure, Hall contributed to multiple 20-win seasons, conference championships, and postseason appearances, including program-best 23-win campaigns in 2018-19 and 2021-22.

Prior to Campbell, Hall gained coaching experience at Martin Methodist College and Carson-Newman, where she also completed her collegiate playing career. She began her playing career at Walters State Community College, helping lead the program to a Tennessee State Championship and a berth in the NJCAA National Tournament.

Hall earned her associate degree from Walters State, a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Carson-Newman, and a master’s degree in education from Campbell. She has also served as an adjunct professor in Campbell’s Exercise Science department.

Hall will begin her duties at Coker immediately.
