Coker Men’s Track & Field Earns Multiple Scoring Performances at SAC Outdoor Championships
EMORY, Va. – The Coker University men's track & field team wrapped up competition at the South Atlantic Conference Outdoor Championships at Emory & Henry University with a strong showing across both days, highlighted by sprint qualifications and key relay performances.
DAY ONE: Pegues Qualifies in Multiple Sprint Events
The Cobras opened the championships with a strong performance on the track, led by Keaten Pegues, who qualified for the finals in both the 100-meter and 200-meter events.
Pègues posted a time of 10.51 seconds in the 100-meter prelims to advance, before returning in the 200 meters to clock 21.32 seconds, securing a second finals appearance.
Coker also saw depth in the 200 meters, with Jeffrey Stiles, Donovan Jones, Quincy Byrd, and Juelz Mickles competing in a competitive field.
DAY TWO: Cobras Score in Sprints and Relays
Pègues returned to the track on the final day and turned in a pair of scoring performances. He placed seventh in the 100 meters with a time of 10.67 seconds, earning two points, and followed with an eighth-place finish in the 200 meters in 21.56 seconds to add another point.
Coker also found success in the relay events, highlighted by a strong showing in the 4x100-meter relay, where the team of Donovan Jones, Keaten Pegues, Jeffrey Stiles, and Juelz Mickles finished fourth overall with a time of 40.94 seconds, earning five points.
The Cobras added to their team total in the 4x400-meter relay, as the squad of Quincy Byrd, Jake Popkowski, Jeffrey Stiles, and Donovan Jones placed seventh with a time of 3:17.89, earning two more points.
