Cobras Deliver Strong Showing at High Point
HIGH POINT, N.C. – The Coker men's track & field team put together a strong all-around performance at the VertKlasse Meeting, highlighted by top finishes in the sprints and a near-record effort in the relay.
"Our men had a strong showing across the board this weekend on such a short turnaround," said head coach Eugene Galloway. "Our men's 4x100 continue to prove that they belong amongst the top three teams in the conference."
The Cobras were led in the 100 meters by Keaten Peagus, who placed fifth with a time of 10.59, while Juelz Mickles followed with a 10th-place finish in 10.69.
In the 200 meters, Donovan Jones finished sixth overall, clocking a time of 21.61.
Quincy Byrd highlighted the day in the 400 meters, placing fifth with a time of 48.53, continuing a strong weekend for the Cobras in the sprint events.
Coker's 4x100-meter relay team delivered one of the top performances of the meet, finishing third overall with a time of 40.86, just one-tenth of a second shy of the school record.
"Also big day for Quincy (Byrd) in the 400m and 200m," Galloway added. "We hope this weekend is a confidence boost for the entire men's team."
The Cobras also saw action in distance events, with Nathan Allen posting a personal-best time of 4:24.01 in the 1500 meters, while Jasiah Solomon (4:40.82) and Ian Halle (10:55.60, 3000m steeplechase) added marks for Coker.
