HOW IT HAPPENED:
- This game started out hot with both teams having solid looks on goal.
- Carson-Newman's left winger set a beautiful curling shot at the goal that goalkeeper Ismael Caria had to extend to keep the ball out of the net.
- A few minutes later, Christian Johnson was fouled by the Carson-Newman goalkeeper in the box, gifting the Cobras a penalty. Johnson stepped up to take it; however, the CN GK picked the right side, saving Johnson's penalty to keep the game level.
- The breakthrough goal didn't come until the 81st minute. Sebastian Gough sent in a looping corner into the back post. Christian Johnson got his head on the ball and redirected it into the path of Yonatan Cohen, who buried his header into the back of the net, giving the Cobras their first lead of the game.
- The Cobras were able to wind the game down by keeping the ball in the opposing half for the rest of the game.
WHAT'S NEXT?
The Cobras will be on the road next as they face off against the Railsplitters of Lincoln Memorial University. This game will take place on September 27 at 5:30 PM and will be streamed on the FloSports Network.
