HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Coker University men's soccer player Christian Provenzano has been named the SPC Credit Union Student-Athlete of the month for September after an impressive month on the field.
The junior striker from Bonassola, Italy leads the team and is second in the South Atlantic Conference with five goals and 11 points on the season. He has scored in five consecutive matches with three of them being game winning goals. Perhaps his best moment of the season came against the nationally ranked Lander University Bearcats on Wednesday (Sept. 25), when he scored the game-clinching goal. In the most recent match against SAC opponent Mars Hill on Sunday (Sept. 29), Provenzano scored off a free kick and assisted on another Cobras goal in the 3-0 win.
"Christian has played a big part in our team's success this season," said coach Michael Antoniewicz. "His outstanding work ethic has set him up for this award."
He is the son of Antonio and Maria Teresa.
