Cobras Looking to Close 2015 With Win Over Pioneers
The Coker College men's basketball team will be in action on Saturday (Dec. 19) to take on the visiting Tusculum College Pioneers.
HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker College men's basketball team will be back at home on Saturday (Dec. 19) at 4 p.m. for the final time in the 2015 calendar year to take on the visiting Tusculum College Pioneers. Live stats and broadcast will be available at www.cokercobras.com.
The two teams split the 2014-15 season series, with the Cobras picking up an 84-75 win on senior day. Overall, the Cobras lead the series 3-1 since joining the South Atlantic Conference.
Donte Samuels leads the Cobras offensively, averaging 19.5 points per game and shooting over 50 percent from the field. Trey Marshall is third in the conference averaging 2.2 steals per game, to go along with 9.9 points per contest. Defensively, the Navy and Gold continue to allow a conference-low 66.6 points per game, in large part due to the inside presence of Trey James. James is averaging a conference-high 1.8 blocks per game and a team-high 8.1 rebounds per game.
The Pioneers travel to Hartsville sporting a 6-3 overall and 2-2 in-conference record. They are led by the scoring trio of Darius Carter, Chase Mounce and Javon Price. Carter is averaging a team-high 16.4 points per game, while Mounce and Price are pouring in 13.4 and 12.9 points per contest.
Tip-off is set for 4 p.m. on Saturday (Dec. 19) at Coker College's DeLoach Center. Tickets are $15 dollars for reserved seats, $5 dollars for adults, $3 dollars for students, and free for all Coker students, faculty and staff.
