Cobras Handle Barton for First Win
Four Cobras netted goals in the 5-0 victory at home
HARTSVILLE, SC: Coker field hockey earned their first victory of the season thanks to three first-half goals in Saturday's 5-0 victory over visiting Barton at the Coker Athletic Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Coker's sophomore midfielder Francesca Montanera started the scoring early in the first quarter when she put a rebound from junior forward Skylar Ponik's shot in the back of the cage at the 4:16 mark. The goal was Montanera's first of her career.

Senior midfielder Camille Berger scored her first goal of the game less than 10 minutes later on an assist from freshman midfielder Aubrey Geist that resulted from a penalty corner.

Berger netted her second goal of the game in the second quarter with an assist from freshman forward Kiera Donnelly that was again a result of a penalty corner.

Skylar Ponik put the Cobras up 4-0 in the fourth quarter on an assist from junior forward Aleena Januchowski and less than two minutes later the two traded spots and Januchowski scored on a pass from Ponik.
NOTABLES:

Freshman goalkeeper Kylie Campbell got the start in goal, the first of her career and earned the victory. She did not face any shots on goal.

The Cobras outshot Barton 17-0.

Coker had six penalty corners and scored a goal on three of them.

Coker turns right around to host Newberry in a non-conference tilt on Sunday at the Coker Athletic Field. This game will take place at 2 PM on Sunday, the 14th, and will be broadcast on the FloSports network.
