Hawk and Mitchell Earn Spots on SAC All-Tournament Team
Pitchers Ian Hawk and Cooper Mitchell were both named to the South Atlantic Conference All-Tournament Team, the league announced last week.
ROCK HILL, S.C. – Coker University baseball pitchers Ian Hawk and Cooper Mitchell were both named to the South Atlantic Conference All-Tournament Team, the league announced last week.
Mitchell earned his first collegiate victory on the mound after tossing 6.0 innings and allowing just one run on two hits while striking out seven in Coker's 4-1 elimination-game win over Mars Hill at Newman Park on May 2.
Hawk also picked up a win in an elimination game on May 2, leading the Cobras to an 11-1 victory over Lincoln Memorial. He threw 7.0 innings, allowing just one run on three hits while striking out five.
In both outings, Coker's starters carried no-hitters into the sixth inning. Hawk was perfect through five innings before Lincoln Memorial recorded its first baserunner with a leadoff double in the sixth, while Cooper lost his no hit bid when Mars Hill singled to lead off the sixth inning.
