Cobras Take Marathon Game at UNC Pembroke
It took more than four hours, but Coker overcame adversity to earn its first non-conference victory of the season.
PEMBROKE, N.C. – Matthew Lipcsey's seeing-eye single drove in Luke Peterson in the top of the 11th inning to give the Coker University baseball team the lead and the Cobras held on for the 10-8 victory over UNC Pembroke in 11 innings on Tuesday evening at Sammy Cox Field.
Xander Davis picked up his first win of the season on the mound, while Ian Hawk earned a three-pitch save.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
It took more than four hours, but Coker overcame adversity to earn its first non-conference victory of the season.
The Cobras struck first in the second inning with a pair of runs on a Dimitri Sabino RBI double and a sacrifice fly by Gavin Edens. UNC Pembroke answered with three runs in the bottom half of the inning to take a 3-2 lead.
The Braves extended their advantage with two runs in the third inning and another in the fourth before Coker began to chip away at the deficit. Rocco Wojcik delivered an RBI single in the fifth inning to get the Cobras back on the board.
Coker then plated four runs in the seventh inning to take a 7-6 lead behind RBIs from Gavin Johnson, Colton Penner, Sabino and Edens.
The Cobras added a run in the top of the ninth on Matthew Lipcsey's first RBI of the game, but UNC Pembroke responded with two runs in the bottom of the inning to force extra innings.
Neither team scored in the 10th, but Coker broke through in the 11th with two runs thanks to an RBI single from Lipcsey and a passed ball.
