Cleghorn Fires 3-Hitter to Lead Coker over Wise
Junior pitcher Casey Cleghorn fired a complete-game three-hitter and freshman designated hitter Fabio Marquez provided all the offense needed with a two-run home run to lead the Coker University baseball team to a 6-1 series-opening win at UVA Wise on Friday night at Burchell Stallard Baseball Field.
WISE, Va. – Junior pitcher Casey Cleghorn fired a complete-game three-hitter and freshman designated hitter Fabio Marquez provided all the offense needed with a two-run home run to lead the Coker University baseball team to a 6-1 series-opening win at UVA Wise on Friday night at Burchell Stallard Baseball Field.
Cleghorn took a no-hitter into the sixth inning and allowed just one run on three hits while striking out six on his way to his first victory of the season. Marquez deposited a pitch over the left field fence in the top of the second inning, scoring Luke Peterson and giving the Cobras all the offense they would need. The freshman's home run was the first of his career and Coker's first of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Fabio Marquez homered over the left field fence after Luke Peterson opened the second inning with an infield single to give Coker an early 2-0 lead.
The game remained 2-0 until the Cobras added an insurance run in the seventh inning with four straight singles off the bats of Rocco Wojcik, Colton Penner, Gavin Johnson and Dimitri Sabino.
Casey Cleghorn tossed five innings of no-hit baseball before allowing a one-out double in the bottom of the sixth inning. The only other two hits against the lefty came in the eighth and ninth innings.
Coker added more insurance in the top of the ninth inning when Penner, Johnson and Peterson crossed the plate, with Sabino and Marquez driving in runs.
Wise ended the shutout with a single run with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning.
