Cobras Close Strong to Edge Mars Hill in Road Dual Thriller
MARS HILL, N.C. – In a tightly contested dual meet that came down to the final event, Coker acrobatics & tumbling used a dominant second half to secure a 257.395–255.225 victory over Mars Hill on the road Wednesday evening.
The Cobras (5-2) overcame a halftime deficit and leaned on strong execution in the toss and tumbling events to pull ahead late and seal the win.
Coker opened the meet with a 34.30 in the compulsory event, highlighted by a 9.80 in the toss heat. Mars Hill held the early edge, taking a 93.05–91.40 lead into the break.
Out of halftime, the Cobras began to shift the momentum in the acro event, posting a 28.40 and taking Heat 1 with a 9.65. Coker continued to apply pressure in pyramid, narrowly edging Mars Hill with a 28.70 total, led by a 9.80 in the open heat.
The toss event proved pivotal, as Coker turned in a 27.70 behind a near-perfect 9.85 in Heat 3 (open), trimming the deficit and setting up a decisive final rotation.
In tumbling, the Cobras delivered when it mattered most, totaling 52.475. Strong performances in the aerial (9.425), 6-element (9.525), and open pass (9.875) created the separation needed to secure the road victory.
Coker closed out the meet with an 85.82 in the team event, finishing just ahead of Mars Hill's 84.30 to lock in the final margin.
