Hartsville, S.C. – The Coker Lady Cobras volleyball team was unable to pick up a win in their 2009 Homecoming match on Friday night, as they fell to the Fayetteville State Broncos 3-1. Coker jumped out to an early 1-0 lead with a 25-19 win in the first set, but the Broncos stormed back to take the next three sets in straight sets, 25-19, 25-23, and 25-14.The loss  drops the Lady Cobras to 1-17 on the season, while Fayetteville State improves to 10-7 overall.

Leading the Lady Cobras were Kristin Teets (Columbia, S.C.) and Lisa Ross (Bowling Green, Ky.) with 10 kills each, while Ross also had 10 digs. Paige Murray (Kitty Hawk, N.C.) had nine kills and 16 digs. Brittany Bass (Bethune, S.C.) and Abby Frame (Sylvania, Ohio) had 15 and 13 assists respectively.

For the Broncos, Chekimbrell Jefferson had 16 kills, with Samantha Meeks had 11 kills and Ifeyinwa Nwokolo had 10 kills. Achari Mainor had 41 assists and Cailee Huffman had 15 digs.

Coker returns to the court on Monday, when they travel to Raleigh, N.C. to play St. Augustine’s College for a 6:00 p.m. match.
