Hickory, N.C. - Coker volleyball opened their 2009 season on Friday afternoon with a 3-0 loss to UNC-Pembroke at the Lenoir-Rhyne Invitational. The Braves defeated the Lady Cobras in straight sets; 25-11, 25-17 and 25-21. Coker (0-1) will face host Lenoir-Rhyne at 7:00 p.m. in their second match of the day.

Leading the Lady Cobras in kills were Cynallyhia Indriago (Columbia, S.C.), Kristin Teets (Columbia, S.C.) and Lisa Ross (Bowling Green, Ky.) with three kills each, while Ross was the dig leader with nine digs, followed by Indriago and Teets with eight digs apiece. Abbey Frame (Sylvania, Ohio) had six assists and Molly Bookhart (Orangeburg, S.C.) had four assists.
