Due West, SC- Coker College women’s tennis team opened their season today away against the favorites to win the conference the Erskine College Flying Fleet. The day began with the doubles matches and Erskine came out strong from the beginning and took two early victories. Lemar and Smith put up a good challenge at three doubles, but came up short and lost 8-4.


The singles followed again with Erskine playing well from the start. They took singles victories at 1,3,4,5, and 6. Rachel Lemar played a great match and got the first win of the day for the Cobras at number two singles with a 6-3, 6-2 victory. Lemar played well and from the baseline and said “Today I used the drop shot a lot and it worked really well today”. The final score for the day was a win for Erskine 8-1.


The next match for the Cobras is against John C Smith away at 2pm on the 8th February. The cobras are 0-1 and 0-1 in CVAC play.
