Dan Muns begins his fourth year as the Head Women’s SoccerCoach at Coker College. Muns joined the Coker Athletic Staffin Decemeber 2010 as the Head Coach of the Cobra Women’sSoccer Team. Muns is the seventh coach to lead the Cobrawomen.
During the 2013 season the Cobras compiled a record of 5-12-1.Lizz Morris earned first team All-SAC honors, while Jordan Roy andJalynn Fortt both earned honorable mention nods. As a team thewomen earned their third straight NSCAA Team Academic Award.
In 2012 the Coker women had their winningest season since 2007,falling just one game short of the conference tournament. Cokerposted a 4-4-2 record at home, including a 3-1 victory overregionally ranked Clayton State. Senior Sarah Rountree and freshmanJalynn Fortt were both named third team all-conference.
As a team the women earned their second consecutive NSCAA TeamAcademic Award.
The 2011 season was Muns first at the helm of the Coker Womenand was one of growth and challenge. The Lady Cobras finishedwith five one-goal losses. They also played in three overtimematches, going 1-1-1 in those matches. Led by Sarah Rountree,a Conference Carolinas All-Conference performer, along with SarahKinsey and Morgan Hartline, both Conference Carolinas AcademicAll-Conference performers in 2011 the Lady Cobras will look tobuild and improve as they move on to 2012.
Muns came to Coker from Columbus State University where he wasthe assistant coach for the Cougar women since the program’sinception in 2004. In just seven seasons, Muns helped build theColumbus State program into a NCAA Division II regional andnational power. The Cougars advanced to the NCAA Nationaltournament from 2006-2010, including finishing the 2010 seasonranked #17 nationally with a record of 19-2-1. The Cougars advancedto the NCAA Elite Eight twice (2007, 2008) finishing the seasonranked No. 5 in the NCAA Division II both years. Along withteo NCAA Southeast Regional Titles, the Cougars appeared in theRegional title match in 2009. The Cougars finished ranked inthe Top 20 in the Final National Poll each of the last five yearsof Muns' tenure there.
A United States Soccer Federation (USSF) “B” Licenseholder, Dan has coached four All-Americans, three ScholarAll-Americans, 21 All-Region, six Scholar All-Region, two Freshmanof the Year, 29 All-Conference, 19 All-Tournament and threeTournament MVP players during his career. In addition to his USSFLicense, Dan holds National Soccer Coaches Association of America(NSCAA) Goalkeeping Diplomas I & II. In addition to his collegecoaching experience, Dan has coached youth soccer for more than 15years and has served as the Head Men’s Soccer Coach atCalvary Christian School and Brookstone School in Columbus, Ga.
A graduate of Columbus State, Muns holds a Bachelor of Sciencein Exercise Science and is currently pursuing his Masters in PublicAdministration from CSU. He is also a 13-year verteran of the USArmy. Muns and his wife Angela have three daughters and a son(Morgan-22, Ashley-20, Harrison-15, Hayden-12) along with twoGrandsons (Roman-2 and Blake-7 months).
