Huff Finishes Fourth at Midwest Regionals

TIFFIN, OH. – Charlie Huff placed fourth at the 2014 NCAA Midwest Regionals this Saturday (Mar. 1) to lead the Coker wrestling team to a 13th place finish.  With a fourth place finish at 133 in the region, Huff has now advanced the NCAA Championships starting Friday, March 14th.

Three wrestlers for Coker qualified for day two of the Regional Championships, with Huff being the first.  In Huff's first match he was able to defeat Joseph Her of Wisconsin-Parkside by a score of 5-1.  He then edged out Zak Hale of Anderson in a 4-2 overtime battle, which punched his ticket to the NCAA Championships and guaranteed him a fourth place finish.  Huff then lost a tough 5-1 match to Brenden Murphy of McKendree in his last session of the day.

Both Robert Parland (197) and Austin Akins (285) advanced to day two for Coker, but unfortunately were eliminated after their first match.

The University of Indianapolis finished first in the region, followed by McKendree University, and Newberry College.
