CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Coker’s Janell Dunham (Bear, Del.) and Jasmine Alston (Sumter, S.C.) each netted 12 points and grabbed seven rebounds in a 71-49 loss to the Queens University of Charlotte Royals in Conference Carolinas women’s basketball action on Saturday night.

Queen’s Marissa Hudley was the star of the game as she erupted with 25 second half points to finish with 31 points total leading the Royals past the Cobras.
 
Hudley recorded a double-double grabbing 13 rebounds to go along with her 31 points. She now sits atop the Queens All-Time Leading Scorers list with 1,644 points passing Sequoya Friday (1,642) on the women’s list and Chris Benson (1,628) on the men’s list.
 
After a both teams got off to a sluggish start offensively,. Coker’s 29.6 first half field goal percentage was just slightly better than Queens’ 28.6 as the score at the break sat at a low 26-21 in the Royals’ favor.
 
Hudley opened the second half scoring 10 of Queens 12 points in a 12-2 run making it obvious that she was on a mission. 
 
The Royals never looked back riding Hudley’s hot hand all the way to a 26 point lead, their largest of the game, with 1:19 on the clock.
 
Queens improved their shooting percentage to 58.6 in the second half giving them a 44.6 field goal percentage for the game.  The Royals’ bench outscored Coker’s 24-to-10 in the win.
 
Helping Dunham and Alston’s efforts for the Cobras were Megan Thomas (Cresskill, N.J.) with seven points and Lucy Fish (Nottingham, England) with six points.
 
Coker will return home for their next game on Wednesday, Feb. 2 against  Erskine College at 5:30 p.m.
