Justin Stack will begin his secondseason as an assistant coach for both the men's and women's volleyball progras at Coker in 2014-15.
In his first season, the women's team the Cobras went 3-28. On
the men's side, the Cobras had a strong year finishing 8-21 on the
season. As a team, the Coker men ranked in the top 50 of six major
statistical categories in NCAA Division I/II men’s
volleyball. The trio of Ricardo Ferrer, Artur Cabral and Leshon
Alexander were the catalysts behind the recognition. Ferrer and
Cabral both ranked in the top 50 of aces per set, while Ferrer also
ranked in the top 50 of digs per set and top 25 of assists per set.
Alexander ranked in the top 50 in hitting percentage and blocks per
set.
Stack comes to Coker after serving as the assistant men’s
and women’s volleyball coach at Baruch College for four
years.
He earned a bachelor of arts degree from Hunter College in 2002,
was a four-year standout for the Hawks, leading them to two CUNYAC
Championships and a NECVA Championship game appearance in 2001,
which was one match away from the Division III Final Four.
In addition, he was named the CUNYAC Tournament MVP in 2001, was a
multi-time CUNYAC All-Star, three-time school MVP, and nationally
recognized in five A.V.C.A. statistical categories, including top
five in aces, hitting percentage and digs.
He was also named to the N.E.C.V.A. First Team All-Conference team
twice and All-Tournament team, and later was Gold Medalist at the
USA Nationals in Denver 2005.
Stack spent the next five seasons as the Head coach of the Baruch
College Men’s Volleyball team where he built the program into
a two-time CUNY Athletic Conference Championship team after a 16
year drought and received national recognition with a ranking of
15th in the nation for Division III for the first time in school
history.
His efforts would not go unnoticed as he was named Coach of the
Year by his peers in the CUNYAC in 2005 and 2006. After rebuilding
the volleyball program at Baruch College and serving as an
assistant to the women’s program as well, Justin, returned to
his alma mater Hunter College in September of 2007 to serve as
Coach for both the men’s and women’s volleyball
programs.
He helped lead the men’s program to a division title,
conference championship, a ranking of 11th in the nation and an
ECAC Championship, the first in 15 years for any sport at Hunter
College. His success continued with the women where he helped them
to a regular season conference title and conference Championship in
2007, a 5th seed NCAA tournament berth (highest seed in school
history), and another conference championship and 6th seed NCAA
tournament berth in 2008.
Stack has been a Head Coach for various girls youth camps,
including Nike Volleyball in San Diego, Columbia University
Volleyball Camp and NYC Juniors Volleyball Club. His experience
with girl’s volleyball also extends through his commitment as
a referee for N.Y State volleyball and has consistently been a
State Finals referee.
Stack was also a former assistant athletic director at Hostos
Community College before joining the athletic staff at Monroe
College as Head Women’s Volleyball Coach and Athletic Events
Coordinator.
In his first season, he helped the Lady mustangs compile a record
of 27-4, win their region and gain a berth into the NJCAA National
Tournament, all of which were first-time achievements in Monroe
College women’s volleyball history.
Justin Stack currently resides in Hartsville with his wife Allison and their two children, Logan and Zoey.
