MORROW, Ga. – Freshman Christopher Fuga (Phoenixville, Pa.) fired a two-under-par 70 in the third and final round of the State Farm Laker Collegiate Classic on Tuesday to finish in third place overall at even par, and led the Coker men to a tie for third place with the University of West Georgia as a team.
Helping Fuga led the Cobras was junior Jake Murphy (Hamilton, N.J.) who carded a two-over 74 in the final round and finished in sixth overall. Senior Jared Crane (Greenville, S.C.) also shot under par in the final round, posting a one-under 71, earning a top 20 finish, while sophomore Josh Clay (Stark County, Ohio) shot an even par 72. Freshman Luke Coates (Florence, S.C.) rounded out the field for the Cobras with a 79 (+7) in the third round.
UNC Pembroke was the overall champion, with Georgia Southwestern placing second and Coker and West Georgia coming in tied for third.
This concludes the fall season for the Cobra men's golf team. They will return to the links on February 27 in Savannah, Ga. at the Pirate Invitational hosted by Armstrong Atlantic.
