HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker College men's basketball team announced its 2012-13 schedule this week, and it includes two games against Division I opponents and a season-opening tournament at Francis Marion University.
The Cobra men, who finished with a record of 14-13 last season, will take the court against Division I Campbell University on the road in an exhibition game on Thursday, Nov. 1 to start their season. The Fighting Camels were 17-15 last season, finishing third in the Big South Conference.
Coker will also travel to take on UNC Wilmington in a regular season game on Wednesday, Dec. 5. This will be the second time in the last three years that the Cobras and Seahawks have faced-off. Their last meeting was in an exhibition game in 2010. Coker lost the game 54-43.
"I feel we have a very good schedule this year," said Coker head coach Dan Schmotzer. "It is not going to be an easy road for us, but it never is, and it is that challenge that drives us to play our best each day."
The Cobras will open their regular season on the road against Conference Carolinas rival Limestone on Saturday, Nov. 17. A week later, coach Schmotzer and the men will head to Francis Marion University for the annual Zaxby's Tip-off Clazzic, Nov. 24-25.
"We have a great group of players returning this year," Schmotzer said "They are ready to begin the season and begin our quest for a conference championship."
The 2012-13 schedule is comprised of six non-conference games and 20 Conference Carolinas contests. This will be the Cobras' final season in Conference Carolinas, as Coker moves to the South Atlantic Conference starting in the 2013-14 season.
Fans will be able to watch every Conference Carolinas game, as well as all Coker home games, live online through the America One Network and by visiting www.cokercobras.com.
