Hartsville, SC- Coker College Head Baseball Coach, Dave Schmotzer, announced the signing of transfer David Metts to a National Letter of Intent on Tuesday. Metts is a native of St. George, SC, where he attended Dorchester Academy. He will be joining the Cobras after playing two seasons for cross-town rival Francis Marion University.

 

While at Dorchester Academy, Metts earned eight high school letters; five for baseball, two for football and one for basketball. He was a two-time High School Sports Report All-State baseball selection, two-time Times & Democrat First Team All-Area baseball selection, two-time Region V All-Conference selection, two-time Dorchester Academy baseball “Offensive Player of the Year” and in 2005 was named Dorchester Academy’s Sportsman of the Year.

 

While at Francis Marion, Metts was a red shirt member of the 2006 Patriot team that advanced to the NCAA Division II College World Series and was a two-time Peach Belt Presidential Honor Roll selection.

 

Metts joins a long list of new faces on the Cobra Baseball Team for the 2007-2008 season. Last season the Cobras finished with a record of 20-31, placing 9th in the Carolinas-Virginia Athletic Conference standings.
